While all four of our lodges are located in wilderness settings, offering excellent viewing of the pristine landscape, much more awaits the adventurous traveler, as the helicopter ride to our lodge will quickly illustrate.
The hills surrounding the steep river-valley rise one-thousand feet, offering breath-taking views of the rolling wilderness beyond. Our two fishing lodges, located seven miles apart, offer an ideal opportunity to hike and fish in one daylong adventure.
Access to the lodges on Grey River is also possible via ferry along the south coast of the island, where travelers take a small open boat to the mouth of the river, and then hike six miles to our first lodge, The Forks. After a short stay there, hikers can continue a further seven miles to Salmon Brook Lodge. It’s an adventure that offers a one-of-a-kind encounter with an immense section of this wilderness area.
Rocky Ridge Lodge offers the luxury of travel by boat on a large lake, and the additional bonus of much less demanding hiking due to the absence of steep hills, as well as the presence of some amazing caribou trails that greatly assist the explorer. Access to a nearby river system also gives the option of penetrating even further into the wilderness by canoe.
Caribou Lodge is also located on a lake, making some travel by boat an option. A three mile hike to a nearby river system provides the adventurer with access to a five mile section of waterway by canoe. It’s also possible to hike to the lodge along a ten kilometre trail originating on a forest access road.
Populations of moose, woodland caribou, black bear, bald eagles, ptarmigan, fox, coyotes, and other animals inhabit this rugged terrain. Bring your binoculars, a camera and your spirit of adventure. It doesn’t get much more remote than this!
